FLASH – A FULL DAY OFF-CAMERA FLASH WORKSHOP FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS
Take the fear out of flash by learning the very basics, through to multi-light setups. You will leave feeling confident, inspired and excited to use FLASH!
I am extremely excited to announce three brand new 2025 dates for my FLASH workshop!
This workshop is designed to help wedding photographers of all experience levels (even if you have never touched a flash) improve their understanding and use of off-camera flash and off camera lighting – giving you the ideal skills to shoot weddings with confidence.
We will not only cover how to take epic portraits (both indoors and outdoors), but also how to use flash for all situations on a wedding day including group shots, speeches and dancing.
I will show you set-ups and techniques using off camera flash that you can then incorporate in to your own weddings to open up a whole new world of creative opportunities.
The workshop will start at 9.30am and finish at 7pm. With the sunset being around 6.15pm, we will have a good amount of time to shoot outside in the fading light and then darkness – the perfect time for using off camera flash for portraits. It is a long day but I want to cram in as much as possible – I will share with you EVERYTHING I know about off camera flash to give you confidence and inspiration.
The workshop will be extremely hands on and I am limiting the number of people on each workshop to just 6 people to ensure that I can devote a good amount of time with you individually.
What we will cover on the workshop
I start with an introduction to off-camera flash. I assume no prior knowledge on this workshop so will teach you the easiest way to make what you may think is difficult and technical, become very easy.
By getting the fundamentals right at the beginning, the rest of the workshop will feel so much easier. After the introduction to off-camera flash, the whole of the rest of the day will be dedicated to shooting, and we will shoot together:
- Introduction to off-camera flash
- Equipment
- Creative indoor portraits
- Speeches
- Group shots
- How to create ‘something from nothing’
- Fake sunset
- Outdoor evening portraits
- Champagne spray shots
Our amazing models
I am extremely excited to working with the amazing Elle and Keelan for these workshops. I have shot Elle a number of times before (but never on a workshop) and she is incredible. They will certainly help you leave with stunning images, which you are welcome to use and share as you wish.

Take the fear out of flash!
You will not only leave the workshop with amazing images, but more importantly, confidence – the confidence that you will be able to take everything you learn in to your own weddings
THE VENUE
The workshop will be held at the stunning Eaves Hall, one of Lancashire’s most popular wedding venues. Eaves Hall is an incredible venue which will give us the opportunity to take amazing shots both inside and outside – regardless of the weather.
Eaves Hall: Moor Lane, West Bradford, Clitheroe BB7 3JG
A hot buffet lunch is included as well as tea and coffee.
RECOMMENDED HOTELS
If you would like to arrange accommodation near to Eaves Hall then I would recommend the following hotels. Many attendees of past workshops have stayed at these hotels and have always given good reviews!
The night before the workshop I suggest drinks at Stirk House or Waddington Arms – depending on where the majority of people are staying.
Stirk House: https://www.stirkhouse.co.uk
Waddington Arms: https://www.waddingtonarms.co.
Spinning Block Hotel: https://www.holmesmill.co.uk/
Calf’s Head Hotel: https://www.calfshead.co.uk/
Meet up for drinks the night before
To help the workshop attendees get to know each other a little better before the workshop itself, I always suggest we meet up at Stirk House or Waddington Arms for drinks the night before – depending on where the majority of people are staying.
It is completely up to you if you would like to attend but I have always found it really nice to meet up with everyone the night before and it also gives you a chance to ask me any questions you may have about my photography and business.

FAQ
What equipment will I need?
My suggestion would be your camera and two or three lenses. I will shoot the majority of the day with my 35mm and 85mm lenses, so if you have those that would be great, although just bring what you have if not.
If you have your own Godox trigger, please bring that too but please don’t worry if you don’t have one as, assuming you use either a Sony, Canon, Nikon or Fuji camera, I can provide you with one. This means that we can all shoot using the same lights on the day, which makes things much easier. You do not need to bring your own lights.
Do I need to bring my own speedlights and light stands?
No, I find it far easier for us all to use my lights. You can move them around and adjust them as you like, but if we all use my lights, the whole day flows better, you don’t need to worry about packing too much, and we don’t have light stands everywhere.
What are the timings for the day?
Arrival is 9.30am for a 10am start. I will start the day by talking about my equipment and my introduction to off-camera flash and we will start shooting at 11.30am. From that point the whole day will be based around shooting as I believe the best way to learn is when you have your camera in your hands. We will have a hot lunch around 2pm and we will finish at 7pm. It’s a busy day but a fun day!
I have never used off-camera flash before. Is this workshop for me?
100% it is! I love to having people attend the workshop who have not used off-camera flash before. We go through everything in stages on the day, starting with the very basics, so you will learn things in order. In fact, it is sometimes easier to teach those photographers who are brand new to off-camera lighting, as you won’t have picked up (potentially) bad habits.
This workshop is for photographers of all experience levels.
Can I use the images I take on my own social media?
Yes of course! The images you take on the day are yours to use however you wish.
Do I need to bring my own food?
No, a hot lunch is provided (and it is always really nice!). Tea and coffee is also provided both on arrival and during a short afternoon break.
How many people attend the workshop?
I keep the numbers limited to just 6 photographers per workshop. This way I can spend a good amount of time with every attendee, there is never a scrum to take photos and the group bonds really well!
