Romantic Lake District wedding in the winter
I always love weddings in the Lake District, it is one of favourite places in the world. And with Jackie and Alastair being one of the nicest couples you could meet, I always knew that this was going to be a fantastic day.
Winter weddings are special, they bring different challenges to weddings in the summer but I love photographing them. There is something really nice about being all cosy inside whilst it’s cold and wintery outside, especially in the Lake District.
I also love to get creative with lighting and that’s something which you have to do at winter weddings as there is very limited natural light. I love this though and the portraits I took of Jackie and Alastair with flash outside after their wedding ceremony are some of my favourite photographs from the day.
Although we didn’t have any snow at this wedding, we did have some of the foggiest weather I have ever seen! At one point I was even worried that I wouldn’t be able to drive home. The fog certainly wasn’t a bad thing though as it made for some really romantic bride and groom portraits outside.
Jackie and Alastair got married at Broadoaks Country House in the Lake District, a stunning venue in Windermere and a venue I know well. I have been lucky enough to photograph a few weddings there now, every one has been brilliant and this was no exception. From the moment I arrived in the morning for photographs of Jackie and her bridesmaids getting ready all the way through to the evening, this was a really special day.
Thank you so much Jackie and Alastair for asking me to be your wedding photographer. I loved being a part of your amazing day and wish you both a very long and happy marriage together.
