What an amazing and crazy day Nicole and James’ wedding at Abbeywood Estate in Cheshire was. On the one hand it was one of the wettest days of the year but on the other one of the most relaxed and fun couples I have photographed. The weather may have been terrible but nothing was going to stop Nicole and James from having one of the best days ever.
After taking photographs of Nicole and her bridesmaids getting ready in the morning (with hair and make-up by the always amazing team at Flossy and Leigh) it was on to St John’s Church in Northwich for the ceremony. After Nicole and James has exchanged vows, all the guests boarded a vintage bus and we made our way through Cheshire to Abbeywood Estate for the rest of the day.
Fantastic wedding venue
This was the first time I had been to Abbeywood Estate & Gardens to photograph a wedding and I loved it. It is a huge 45 acre estate, located in Delamere in the Cheshire countryside. Perfect for summer weddings.
The main conservatory where the wedding breakfast took place is so photogenic and with windows all around, lets in lots of beautiful light with lovely views of the gardens.
The outside space though is what really sets this wedding venue apart though. With so much colour and beautiful scenery, it is perfect for photographs, especially portraits. It must be one of the prettiest venues in Cheshire. The gardens are huge but all so picturesque with stunning views over the countryside.
The staff at Abbeywood were also great and extremely helpful so a big thank you to them too. It really is a special venue and I really hope to photograph more weddings there in the future.
Despite the almost constant rain for most of the day, just before the speeches started the clouds parted and for about 10 minutes and we were treated to a beautiful sunset. It was almost like a miracle! I had been watching the sky almost constantly throughout the wedding breakfast and had a feeling the sun would break through so I asked Nicole if her and James would like to go outside for some bride and groom photographs in the hope that we would get some beautiful light and I am so pleased that they did. We then had a few minutes in the gardens for portraits before going back inside for the speeches.
Epic party
The day finished with an absolutely awesome party. Just before Nicole and James and all their guests danced the night away to a Cèilidh band, we went outside to throw confetti. This must have been a record for the latest time I have seen confetti thrown at a wedding as it was pitch black outside but so much fun. Then the dancing started and everyone loved it and had a great time. It was such a great atmosphere.
Thank you so much Nicole and James for asking me to be your wedding photographer. It was a pleasure to capture such a brilliant day and I am so pleased you are so happy with your images. I wish you both a long and very happy marriage together.
Here are some of my favourite photographs from your special day.
