There is something special about a DIY wedding, where the bride and groom organise and put together every single aspect of the wedding day themselves. It makes the wedding day so unique and individual. From wedding signs, to stationary, to catering, to centre pieces. Every aspect of the wedding day had been carefully thought about and planned. It made everything so special and personal.
Olivia and Ian’s rustic DIY wedding was exactly that, they got married at a beautiful village church with the rest of the day being held in the grounds of Olivia’s parents beautiful countryside home.
Not only the day so unique and personal but it was absolutely jam packed full of emotion too. As soon as I arrived in the morning to take photographs of Olivia getting ready with her mum and bridesmaids, I could tell that it was going to be an incredible day. There was such a feeling of anticipation and excitement in the air, it was amazing to photograph.
Olivia’s mum had put so much effort in to making every aspect of the wedding day perfect and I was so pleased that everything came together so perfectly, even the weather played it’s part too. Despite the fact we had some wind and rain in the morning, by the time the evening came the sun came out and we had the most incredible light. One of my favourite photographs from this DIY wedding was taken in the evening, where the sky in one direction was really dark and moody, but in the other the sun was shining. It looked absolutely amazing and made for perfect bride and groom portraits.
The part of the day that I will always remember this wedding day for though was the party in the evening… WOW, what an incredible night. It was more like a nightclub than a wedding, maybe even more like Glastonbury Festival than a wedding! The atmosphere was literally phenomenal. And just when it seemed things couldn’t get any better, Scott Mills of Radio One walked on stage and played an incredible DJ set. SCOTT MILLS! This was the wedding party to end all wedding parties! Absolutely amazing and the perfect way to end what was an insanely good wedding day.
Massive congratulations to you again Olivia and Ian. I loved being your wedding photographer, thank you so much again for asking me to be a part of your wedding. I wish you both all the very best for the future.
