Portrait shoot on the beach

Beth on Formby beach

A couple of weeks ago I met up with my friend and amazing model Bethany for a fun portrait shoot at on the beach at Formby.

I love Formby, it has long been one of my favourite locations. It has so much variety to it, from the forest areas to the huge dunes, to the beach. It’s always a great place to go to but on sunny days it’s beautiful, the beach especially, so when I saw the forecast saying that we were in for a mini-heatwave for a few days I immediately went about organising a shoot there.

It is one of my aims for this year to shoot more for myself, just for fun, and that is what this shoot was all about. I am often guilty of not taking enough photographs for no other reason than the sheer enjoyment of it but it’s always great to do this, with no pressure and no expectations at all. It’s something I am going to do a lot more of this year.

I had a rough idea in my head of the photographs I wanted to take. I was visualising a huge long dress blowing in the wind on a beach, but despite spending a long time searching online, I couldn’t find the dress which I was imagining anywhere. So instead, I decided to buy the longest red dress which I could find together with some red scarves which I stitched together and these photographs are the result.

Beth, as always, was absolutely amazing, so easy to work with and made the shots which I had in my mind come to life. Thank you so much again Beth!

Please watch the video at the end of the post for a little behind the scenes look at this shoot 🙂
