What a weekend this was! I say weekend because Sarah and Vinesh’s Indian wedding at Rochdale Town Hall in Lancashire was the first of two days of celebrations – the following day they did it all again at Colshaw Hall! Both days were incredible and packed full of amazing moments and genuine emotion, a real pleasure to be a part of.
I already knew from their engagement shoot that Sarah and Vinesh were a brilliant couple, so much fun and really funny too so I knew that their wedding days were going to be special and that is exactly what they were.
I started the day with Sarah as she got ready with her parents and bridesmaids. It was such a happy place to be with everyone so excited, this was always going to be a good day. Once Sarah had got ready in to her traditional red Indian dress, we all made our way to Rochdale Town Hall for the main ceremony.
One of my favourite parts of an Indian wedding is the arrival of the groom. As his car arrives and he walks to the venue, he is accompanied by drummers and with his family and friends dancing alongside him. The atmosphere is incredible, noise colour and excitement is everywhere, it’s brilliant to see.
The Great Hall is a great space and was a fantastic location for the wedding ceremony. The Mandap looked amazing too. I love all the traditional aspects of an Indian wedding ceremony, from the couple saying their vows around the agni fire, to the exchanging of flower garlands. Sarah and Vinesh’s ceremony was full of smiles, laughter and tears and went perfectly.
After the traditional breaking the coconut and some very cool Bollywood dancing, everyone went back upstairs for an amazing Indian feast. A really lovely ending to what was a genuinely brilliant day to photograph.
It was fantastic to work with the Stefan from YSD Media, Stefan is a brilliant videographer and I know that his film will look amazing.
A huge thank you again Sarah and Vinesh for asking me to photograph your Indian wedding, it was such a good day and I am so pleased you are so happy with your photographs. Here are just a few of my favourites.
