It is always exciting going to work at new venues, especially in central London surrounded by famous landmarks. So when Shannon and Jason asked me to photograph their wedding at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on the banks of the River Thames, I couldn’t have been more pleased.
I drove down to London the day before and started the day with Shannon as she got ready with her bridesmaids. The atmosphere was so relaxed and fun, it made my job so easy. I knew at that point that this was going to be a really brilliant wedding to be a part of.
Shannon and Jason got married at the beautiful St Mary of the Angels church in Bayswater in London. After much congratulating and hugs from their friends and family, we all boarded London buses to take us through London to the Globe Theatre. Before leaving the church though, Shannon and Jason did something unique which I haven’t seen before but I thought was such a brilliant idea, they very quickly went to a shop to pose for 3D models of themselves. I’m sure the finished models will looks amazing!
Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is located in central London, just next to Millennium Bridge. It is such a unique building and looks incredible both inside and out. The Globe is a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre where so many of William Shakespeare’s plays were performed, which was where destroyed by a fire in 1613. The new building is only a few hundred yards away from the original so retains much of the character of the original building.
Weddings take place in the Underglobe, which is below the main theatre. The Underglobe works so well as a wedding venue and the staff there were brilliant to work with too. In particular, the wedding breakfast room looked absolutely stunning. So atmospheric.
After the speeches, we went outside on to the banks of the Thames for some late night portraits. The Globe is located opposite St Paul’s Cathedral which made for a brilliant background 🙂
A huge thank you to you again Shannon and Jason for asking me to be your wedding photographer. I loved working with you both and I am so pleased that you had such an amazing wedding day. Thank you for all your kind words about your photographs too, I really appreciate them all. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.
Here are a few of my favourite photographs from your special day:
