BIPP North West Photographer of the Year Winner

This is one of the proudest posts I have ever written because on Thursday last week I was awarded the title of BIPP North West Photographer of the Year 2016.

For many years now, since the very first wedding I photographed almost exactly 10 years ago, I have tried my best to become a better photographer. I have gone through stages of thinking I was doing well to stages when I thought I didn’t really have a clue. I’m somewhere in the middle of those two at the moment but winning an award like this, with the ridiculous of amount of talented photographers there are within the North West region, is a huge honour and makes me feel that I am on the right track.

I have been lucky enough to have won the BIPP North West Wedding Photographer of the Year award twice before, in 2012 and 2013, so to win the award for the third time this year was just amazing. I really hadn’t expected however to win the overall Photographer of the Year award though so to hear my name called out was such a lovely surprise and a very proud moment.

A massive thank you all my awesome bride and grooms who allow me to take the images which have helped me to win this award. I can only take photographs of what is in front of me, so I am always incredibly grateful when my couples allow me to document their day in such a trusting and creative way.

A huge thank you also to the outgoing Chairman of the BIPP North West, James Russell and new Chairman Ioan Said of Celynnen Photography. James has put an incredible amount of effort in to the region over the past three years which is something that I and all the members are extremely grateful for, whilst Ioan has been doing a fantastic job behind the scenes for a while now and I know will take the region from strength to strength in the future.

The past 12 months have been extremely difficult for me personally but in producing a collection of images which were deemed worthy of awarding me the title of BIPP North West Wedding Photographer of the Year, it just shows that even during the hardest of times, some good can still happen if you stay positive and believe in yourself.
