Sandhole Oak Barn wedding photography

The perfect couple, a beautiful venue, excited guests and a Noel Gallagher song for the first dance, all the ingredients you need for an amazing wedding day and Laura and Martyn’s wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn had all that and more!

Their was so much excitement and emotion throughout this incredible day and all I had to do was point my camera at it and press the shutter. Days like this never feel like work.

This day was extra fun too because I also had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of one of Martyn’s best men, Richard, four years ago. It was great to see you both again Jenny and Richard!

Thank you so much Laura and Martyn for asking me to photograph your wedding, it was such a perfect day and I felt honoured capturing it for you both. You are so brilliant together and I wish you both a very long and very happy marriage – which I know it will be! x

Here is Laura with her wedding story 🙂

How did you both meet?
We both worked at the same city centre hotel in Manchester. As with most relationships we started out just friends but one day Martyn told our mutual friend Jo that he liked me and like we were both back at school he asked Jo to ask me out!! I was so shocked but so happy as secretly I liked him too!!

How did Martyn propose to you?
It was amazing!! I was due to have my appraisal at work that day and my boss sent me to a room to meet her there. Little did I know Martyn was waiting in the room! He had spoken to my boss and arranged it all!! He then went through flash cards with messages on each one. Just like the scene in Love Actually! The last card said ‘there’s just one thing I need to ask’ and then got down on one knee. He definitely cried more than me!!

Did you enjoy the wedding planning?
I found it a lot less stressful than Martyn did at times! We were really lucky that we have great people around us. Both sets of parents, brothers, sisters and best friends were amazing in helping us. If I was to give any advice, it would be to take your time. You only get to do this once so take the time to research everything and make sure you don’t get pushed into anything you don’t want. Remember it’s your and your Fiancée’s day so make sure it’s everything you’ve dreamed of and more!!

Why did you choose Sandhole Oak Barn as your wedding venue?
We were looking for a converted barn type of venue and we saw a few before deciding on Sandhole Oak Barn. The two main things that helped us to decide was the accommodation onsite and the owners and caterers Top Table who were both great from day one. Ideally we would have chosen a venue closer to our families and at first we were worried that we were asking all our guests to travel but to see the looks on all our guests faces on the day made us realise we had made the right decision. It was truly perfect!!

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
The whole day was just so amazing! It’s so hard to pick just one. One of the best parts was the ceremony as it was so special and even now we both cry when we watch the wedding video. The speeches were brilliant. I was a little worried about my dads but he really did me proud. Music is a big part of our lives and I will always remember our first and last dance which was Noel Gallagher’s If I Had A Gun and Coldplay’s Sky Full of Stars. Both of these songs already held lots of memories for us but now they will be forever reminders of our great wedding day.

Who were your favourite wedding suppliers?
There’s so many! Firstly, Top Table caterers couldn’t have done any more for us to make our day perfect. They took everything in their stride and we are so happy they were the caterers for our wedding. I also absolutely loved the flowers and we have so much to thank Anna for. They were so beautiful and were one of the first things that made me cry on the morning of the wedding. Lisa at Cheshire Cake Design is a genius!! The naked cake was perfect and she even made a few more samples for us after the wedding as we didn’t get chance to eat any on the day! Last but by no means least, our photographer! There are not enough words we can say to thank you for everything Neil has done. From the initial meeting to the photos coming through, you have been a friend as well as our wedding photographer.
