Knowsley Hall wedding photography
Knowsley Hall in Merseyside is one of my favourite wedding venues. It is absolutely stunning and perfect for wedding photography. It is no surprise that it is such a popular choice with brides and grooms. It really is one of the most photogenic venues I have ever been to.
Located on a huge 2,500 acre private walled estate, Knowsley Hall is a real wow venue. After you enter the estate and turn to go up the drive towards main hall, you can’t help but be impressed. Built in 1495, it is easily of the most impressive venues I have ever had the pleasure to work at.
I love everything about this grand and elegant wedding venue. The inside of the house is beautiful, the light is incredible and the gardens are breathtaking. As well as that, the experienced staff there are extremely helpful and ensure that every couple’s special day goes perfectly. Each wedding I have captured at Knowlsey Hall has been so much fun and I have been so pleased with the images I have taken. Photographing a wedding here is almost cheating!

Why Knowsley Hall is perfect for wedding photography
From a wedding photography point of view, the great thing about Knowsley Hall is that there is so much variety to the venue. Some venues can be quite limiting in terms of the amount of space available and this can sometimes mean that you end up taking similar photographs each time you go there. This isn’t the case with Knowsley Hall however. As it is so large and has so many beautiful rooms, I never have to take the same photo twice.
The hall itself is a beautiful stately house. It always reminds me of a National Trust property. It is magnificent inside and you can’t help but feel the history as you walk through the doors. It feels much more like a welcoming family home than a wedding venue. Not only because it has a very homely feel to it (the open fire is so nice for winter weddings!), but also because it is decorated with lots of photographs and paintings of people who have lived or had connections to the hall.
The light inside the hall is so good too and makes for absolutely beautiful portraits. I really enjoying shooting indoor natural light portraits and Knowsley Hall is perfect for that. For some reason the light that comes through the windows here is better than almost anywhere else! This means that even you have bad weather on your wedding day, it really doesn’t matter. It is a venue where you wouldn’t ever need to set foot outside all day if you didn’t want to, your photographs would still be amazing.
I also love that couples have exclusivity of the whole of this stately home on their wedding day. I think this is important because as a newlywed you want your day to be all about you.
“You really have turned the happiest day of our lives into a work of art. You captured every moment perfectly and made what was an already beautiful day into something more with these photographs. And for that Steph and I can not thank you enough. Almost half of these images are being hung up around our house as soon as possible!”
Knowsley Safari Park
One of the best things about Knowsley Hall is that it is located so close to Knowsley Safari Park. Exciting! I photographed a wedding recently where myself and the bride and groom were driven to the safari park and had photographs next to the giraffes and elephants. I don’t know of any other wedding venue in the country where this would be possible! The staff were absolutely amazing and made sure that the trip to the animals was perfect. It was so much fun and I know that Steph and Josh, the bride and groom, loved it. A really unique thing to do on your wedding day after you have just got married.
