I love weddings at Eaves Hall and when you have a couple as fun, relaxed and excited as Lucy and Andy, it was always going to be a brilliant day, and so it was 🙂
Eaves Hall is such a stunning venue, extremely photogenic both inside and out and the staff there are all so helpful and friendly – Lucy and Andy made a great choice of venue. The whole of Lucy and Andy’s day was so much fun to capture, from Lucy getting ready in the morning being so excited, to Andy playing snooker with all his groomsmen, through to the emotion of the ceremony, the laughter of the speeches and the sheer brilliance of Lucy and Andy’s friend Harry (www.harrythepiano.com) taking requests on the piano in the evening and having everyone captivated. I stayed for a while afterwards just to watch him – he was incredible!
Here is Lucy with her wedding story:
How did yourself and Andy meet?
We were both medical students at Manchester Royal Infirmary. A mutual love of coffee and hatred of endocrinology brought us together in Café Nero. Many coffees later, Andy finally asked me out on a date. After an evening of Sailor Jerry’s and Pepsi in Wetherspoons and him giving me a lift in a car with half of the passenger door missing, I was a bit uncertain at first, but it only got better from there!
How did Andy propose?
Andy was very traditional and asked my parents for permission on Christmas Day. At the end of March, after a lovely evening out in London, I came back to a bottle of champagne in the hotel room and he got down on one knee. It came as a total shock to me, so I made him sweat for a few moments whilst I was completely speechless!
Did you enjoy wedding planning?
Wedding planning was great. I had lots of lovely days out with my mum, especially during the couple of weeks before the big day, which was brilliant. Generally speaking, we were quite relaxed about the planning but everything came together in the end! My main tip would be to have lots of fun whilst you do it and avoid getting stressed about small details. We decided to use champagne corks as name card holders on the tables and gin bottles as the table name holders, so the most fun part was collecting all of those!
Why did you choose Eaves Hall as your wedding venue?
We were blown away by Eaves Hall as soon as we walked in. There wasn’t much decision making involved, as it was the first place we’d seen that we really loved and, after we’d been there, we really didn’t want to look anywhere else. Not only was it our perfect venue, but the staff were amazingly helpful as well.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
That’s a really tough one! We loved it all and it went by so quickly. The ceremony has to be one of my favourite parts as it was amazing to walk down the aisle with my dad and see Andy waiting. Over the whole day, it was just brilliant to see so many of our family and friends all together. Without doubt, the best day we’ve ever had!
Who were your favourite wedding suppliers?
They were all brilliant. The staff at Eaves Hall, particularly Jen and Barry, made sure that everything ran smoothly. I got my dress from Ava Rose Hamilton in Yorkshire, who were fantastic and made sure that choosing my dress was a really enjoyable experience. Andy’s suit was hired from Philip Alexander, with a handmade bespoke shirt . Although Andy wasn’t allowed to know anything about my dress, the staff at Philip Alexander insisted I was there to oversee all the decisions about Andy’s outfit!
Neil, you were incredible and we really couldn’t be happier with our photos (aww, thank you so much Lucy!). You and Dave (our videographer) from B2B productions were both really comfortable to be around and made us feel completely at ease.
Linda, from The Flower Shop in Clitheroe, helped us to decide exactly what flowers we wanted and did a superb job of putting everything together for the day.
Our cheese wedding cake from Cheesie Tchaikovsky was just what we’d hoped for and tasted delicious! We had a great jazz band, led by Phil Meadows, and we also loved hearing our ridiculously talented friend, Harry (www.harrythepiano.com), taking requests for any tune in any style on the piano later on. Special mention has to go to Andy’s mum, who did a fantastic job of making all of our wedding stationary, table decorations and our post box (and managed to put up with all our indecisiveness!).
– Thank you so much Lucy for sharing your wedding story and also for your very kind words about me. It has been so lovely getting to know you both and I wish you a lifetime of happiness together. Here are a few of my favourite photographs from your amazing wedding day:
